Custom websites and business applications: straight answers before you start.
Layer Logic Studio builds custom websites and business applications from scratch, priced by scope, and you own everything when it's done. This page gives straight answers on templates, your time, pricing, ownership and maintenance.
Q Common questions about working with Layer Logic Studio
Why don't you use templates or page builders?
Layer Logic Studio doesn’t use templates or page builders because templates optimize for speed of delivery, not fit. A template tends to push your business toward whatever the template was designed around, instead of the other way around. Custom work takes longer up front, but it ends up being easier to maintain and easier to grow into.
How involved do I need to be?
A Layer Logic Studio client needs to be involved enough to make decisions, not enough to manage the project. Expect a few short calls or message threads per week during active phases, plus a longer review at each milestone. Most clients spend a couple of hours a week on the project at most.
Why do you only take on a few projects at a time?
Layer Logic Studio takes on only a few projects at a time because the process only works with real attention on each one. Running ten projects in parallel would force us into a templated, assembly-line mode of working, which is exactly what we're trying to avoid. When the studio is full, it says so and offers a start date.
Do you offer fixed-price packages?
Not really: Layer Logic Studio doesn't sell fixed-price packages. Every project is quoted from scope, not from a tier sheet. Once discovery is done and we've agreed on a direction, you get a written proposal with a fixed scope and a fixed price for that scope, so there are no open meters.
Who owns the site and the code when we're done?
You own the site and the code. When a Layer Logic Studio project is done, the domain, hosting, email accounts, code and content all belong to you. If you need those pieces set up, we can help secure the domain, recommend competitive and secure hosting, configure custom domain email, and then hand over access with clear notes on what’s where.
Do you maintain sites after launch?
Yes. Layer Logic Studio includes a short post-launch window on most projects to handle anything that surfaces in the first few weeks. After that, website maintenance is à la carte: you pick only what your business needs from a menu and pay for that, never a tier full of things you won't use. Maintenance is never required.
