How we handle your information.

01Who we are

Layer Logic Studio (the “Studio”, “we”, “us”) is an independent web and software studio based in Staten Island, New York. You can reach us at [email protected] or (929) 730-7578.

02What we collect

We collect personal information only when you start the contact, in these ways:

• When you email, call or text us: your name, your contact details, and whatever you tell us about your project.
• When you use the on-screen phone on this site: the message you write (up to 500 characters) and, if you choose to leave it, an email address to continue the conversation there. Your message is sent to the developer’s phone by text message, and the thread is stored on Cloudflare for 30 days, then deleted automatically. Your IP address is used to check you aren’t a bot (Cloudflare Turnstile) and to limit how many messages one address can send in an hour; that count is kept for about an hour. The site does not ask for your phone number. To stop abuse, the thread also keeps a one-way scrambled fingerprint of your IP address (never the address itself); if Rob blocks a sender, that fingerprint can’t start a new conversation for 30 days.
• When you sign in to a client portal: the email address on your project’s access list. We email you a sign-in link and a 6-digit code, both valid for 15 minutes; once you’re in, a session identifier is kept in an httpOnly cookie for up to 7 days. Inside the portal we keep a record of your visits: which pages you open, for how long and how far you scroll. You can see the same record we see; it exists so that when a project stalls, both sides can see where. It is never used for marketing.
• When you browse the site: your request goes through Cloudflare, our hosting provider, which logs basic technical data (IP address, browser, referring page) for security and abuse prevention. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand overall traffic. It is cookieless: it counts page views and referrers without cookies, cross-site tracking, or building a profile of you.
• When you try a live demo: the demos framed on this site run on invented data generated in your browser. What you type into them stays in your browser and is not sent to us.

We don’t set tracking cookies, run ad-tech, or sell your data.

03How we use it

Only for the obvious reasons:

• To respond to you, do the work you’ve hired us for, and keep you informed about that work.
• To send you operational messages: appointment confirmations, deliverables, invoices, and the occasional “your portal is ready” note. We don’t send marketing email.
• To run and improve the site itself: performance, security, accessibility.

We do not sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else who would want it for marketing.

04Text messages and calls

If you call or text (929) 730-7578, you’re reaching a real person at Layer Logic Studio, not a bot, call centre or AI system.

If you choose to receive text messages from Layer Logic Studio, we will use your mobile number only for direct business communication about your inquiry, appointments, project work, account updates or support. Message frequency varies with your interaction with us and the stage of your project. Message and data rates may apply.

You opt in to text messages by texting us first, or by giving us your mobile number during intake or in direct conversation with us. Reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe, or HELP for assistance.

Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.

05Who else sees it

We use a small number of trusted service providers to deliver the site and our work. Each sees only the data it needs to do its part:

Cloudflare

Hosting, DNS, bot checks (Turnstile), storage for the on-screen phone’s threads and the client portals, and cookieless Web Analytics. Sees technical traffic logs and stores what those features hold.

Quo (OpenPhone)

Our business phone line. Carries calls and text messages, including messages sent from the on-screen phone, and keeps the message history.

Resend

Sends transactional email on our behalf: portal sign-in links and codes, and operational notifications. Sees the recipient address and the message.

Fastmail

Hosts our @layerlogicstudio.com mailboxes. Stores email you send us.

GitHub

Where the site’s source code lives. No client personal data is kept in it.

Google Fonts

Some of the live demos load their typefaces from Google, which sees your IP address when a demo opens. The site itself serves its own fonts.

None of these providers receive or use text messaging originator opt-in data or consent for their own purposes, and that information is not shared with third parties.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it (a subpoena or court order). We’ll do the minimum required and tell you when we can.

06Cookies and browser storage

The site sets no tracking cookies; our analytics is cookieless. Cloudflare may set a small security cookie (__cf_bm or similar) for bot management, and Turnstile may set one when it checks a message. Client portals set an httpOnly session cookie after you sign in, strictly to keep you signed in.

Two things use your browser’s own storage, and nothing in it is sent to us: the on-screen phone keeps your thread’s identifier so the conversation survives a reload, and the live demos keep what you’ve done in them, which they reset on their own schedule.

07Apps we build for clients

Some of what we build, such as client portals, booking and operations systems, or a club’s athlete portal, holds information about our clients’ own customers. That information belongs to the client. We handle it on their behalf, only to build, host and support the system, and their privacy policy is the one that governs it. Questions about it are best sent to the business you deal with; we’ll help them answer.

08Your rights

You can always:

• Ask us what we have on file for you, and we’ll tell you.
• Ask us to delete it, subject to legal retention requirements such as invoices.
• Opt out of further communication from us, in any channel, at any time.
• Reach a person about anything privacy-related at [email protected].

Depending on where you live, you may have more rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or the EU’s GDPR. We honour those requests through the same address.

09Children

Our own services aren’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we’ll remove it.

10Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a material way, we’ll update the “last updated” date on this page, and if the change affects how we handle data we’ve already collected, we’ll tell affected clients directly.
